DATE : OCTOBER 20th 2010

VENUE : Tintern Abbey

EVENT : Girlguiding UK
Renewal of Promise
" 20.10.20.1, 2010 "

INFORMATION :
Simultaneous Renewal of Promise by all members over the UK at 20:10pm

At 20.10, 20.10, 2010 the Centenary Year will come to an end when all members will re-make their promise. Celebrations will be held all around the world in units, districts, divisions and counties.

Chepstow Division are holding our Vision Celebration at Tintern Abbey and would like as many units to participate as possible. Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Senior Section, Trefoil and Leaders are all invited to join us and make this a really special celebration to finish off a really exciting year for Guiding.

As a Division we will have a candlelit procession around Tintern Abbey culminating at 8.10pm with everyone re-making their promise.

We will be making lanterns prior to the event. These lanterns will be made from a jam jar with a tea light and a holder to prevent burned fingers. Please make sure you bring your jar jar to Brownies in plenty of time.

The approximate cost for each girl will be £3.50 which will be confirmed in Sept. Cost will include a goodie bag for each girl attending and a commemorative badge.

We are also holding a competition to design the commemorative badge. There will be a prize for the best badge from each section and the overall winner will see their design made into the badge that will be given out on the night.

Competition entries need to be returned to Brownies by the last meeting of term.

100 years to the day, 1.2 million Girlguiding UK members and guests will be attending parties across the United Kingdom to mark this illustrious occasion and in doing so launch a year of Centenary Celebrations which will run from the 5th September 2009 to the 20th October 2010

The Girlguiding Centenary Maze opens at Crystal Palace on the weekend of the Launch Parties.
It will be a fun and interactive work of art created to commemorate the birth of Guiding.
