REPORT FOR PACK HOLIDAY 2008
Hi Everyone We hope that our news finds you all well and lookng forward to the summer ahead ( I know I am for I will have no school for 8 weeks so that’s 2 weeks with nanna by the beach., 1 week with Aunty Sue and helping her with her 5 horses, 16 days holiday with my family in Crete and then time out at home before going back to school just can’t wait for all this to happen) But before I forget I am writing to you to tell our news from Brownie Pack Holiday last month. It was only a short time this year for our Brown Owl was celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary and wasn’t sure what was happening so at the last minute we found out we were going away I was so excited for it was going to be my first time going away without mum and dad And has things worked out it was lucky that we weren’t going away too far for Brown Owl had broken her big toe and couldn’t walk on her foot so during our time away we help her has much has we could to save her hopping around ....... We went to Devauden Village Hall and what a lovely hall, we Brownies all slept in one big room and the adults were just next door, Our theme was High School Musical ( and if you haven’t seen the films 1 and 2, it is worth getting them to watch .) All the leader were name from the films and all the rooms were named from the places in the films. When we arrived all the posters were up, our names above our beds and the spot chart was up, ( I had heard about this that if you do your jobs and be helpful you get spots and spots make prizes ) Once everyone had arrived and the parents had gone the leaders went through the rules and put us into groups once that was done it wasn’t long and the coach had arrived to take us all out for tea to the Piecefeild pub We went through a lovely woods and with the sun out for abit it was so pretty shinning through. It wasn’t long and we were there and the tables were all laid up ready for us and we all enjoyed our meals ( I failed to finish my pizza it was hugh ) Once back at the hall we played a few games and then it was time for supper and bedtime story ( I really enjoyed this for it has been along time since someone read to me to go to bed and with Brown Owl doing different voices and actions it made it really funny and I think if she could walk she would off been running round doing more actions ) Before I knew it it was morning and only just at that for some had woken up at 5.30am (boy that was early I had never been up that early before ) Once everyone was up it was time to some jobs like laying the table for breakfast and afterwards it was washing the dishes and cleaning the wash areas and once those jobs were done we had bed inspection and then we had a lovely morning in doors for it was still raining, we didn’t mind for we were designing patterns to go china dishes and mugs to match, everyone was different and they looked lovely. We had a break for lunch, it was a lovely roast and boy it was great the stuffing was lovley and soft ( don’t tell mum but I ate all my up and the veggies ) After lunch it stopped raining for a bit so we were able to go and play in the Park where there were lots to play on and we have lots of fun playing with the new big frizzbies they were real big ones and we even got one stuck in a tree and between our young leader and new guider they manamged to get it down for us . After lunch break we had rest hour and this gave the leaders time to get the afternoon activities together. We were making coasters from beads and then having them ironed and this melted the plastic so that they would stick together and keep their shape , they were great and some were very colourful. Before we knew it was time for tea and to get ready for the pictures we were watching High School Musical it was great for we were sitting on our beds eating popcorn and singing along to the songs, even the leaders joined in, for we had a picture kit in the hall and the picture came out on the wall and it was huge just like being in the pictures in Newport but this was better no one told us off for singing… Next it was bedtime and our story continued on (and it was still funny I laughed so much my sides were hurting) but tonight everyone was asleep by 10.00pm and no one woke till 7.30am next day. Today I was on cooking duty so it was my job with my friends to cut up onions and do a salad it was great learning to do new things. Once our jobs were done we had a dancing lesson learning the dances from the film watching a dvd showing us what to do and at the end we all just about remember what to do Later we had rest hour and afterwards we finished all our crafts and had Brownie’s own because some Brownies were going home today and have another holiday. Our Brownie’s own is putting together a little service of thanks and giving out prizes to the best group, best newcomer best older Brownie and not for getting the leaders because without them we wouldn’t be going anywhere and also the spot prize (I didn’t greet this year but we will try harder next year) By the end of all the things we had done we were all tried so it was an early night supper and listen to end of the story and while the leaders were in their room packing we had a lovely surprise and I think I enjoyed this most and if I tell you please don’t tell Brown Owl for the young leader and new guider gave us a midnight feast it was lovely we has lemonade chocolate biscuits and treats it was lovely. It was sad for today we were going home and the weather was dry but we did get a little time in the play area before our parents came for us. So has each one left we sang to her and it worked out well no one was left on her own for the last 3 Brownies went together So for my first time away with new friends at Brownies I just can’t wait till next year. So it is bye for now I’m of to get so sleep and dream of next years pack holiday by the beach ………………………………………………..
